Whether it is World Class art; K-12 Sports, or just an escape to the zoo, the City has a lot to offer. These sections cover the many opportunities to learn and experience more about the spirit, culture and history of City of Baker.
Section Highlights…
City of Baker Parks & Recreation
BREC (Baton Rouge Recreation and Parks Commission) provides and maintains nine major parks throughout the City. BREC staffs seven of these Parks on regular schedules throughout the week.
BAKER CENTER Primarily a basketball and aerobics center, there also is currently under construction is a Youth Activity Room located in the facility located at the corner of Alabama Street at Jefferson Street.
BICKHAM PARK located at 6850 Petit Road hosts Day Camps in the summer, and offers regularly scheduled aerobic classes as well as a slate of other gym related activities.
GREENWOOD PARK COMPLEX
Though not located in the city limits of Baker, the Greenwood Park, Zoo and Golf Course are the stars in The City of Baker!
This is a newly constructed facility with:
Theater style meeting room offering opportunity for local presentations and activities; a small lake featuring canoeing and kayaking and fishing, with a 3 mile walking path surrounding the lovely lake. A beautifully laid out and equipped childrens play ground park; Tennis Park; Frisbee Golf Park; Dog Park; 18 Hole Golf Course with the ultra modern glass and brick Pro Shop

City of Baker Zoo
Situated on 70 beautifully landscaped acres, and with nearly 1,500 animals – many of them endangered and rare – visitors can enjoy all that nature has to offer at the City of Baker Zoo.
Museum
Where the story of the City of Baker, Louisiana unfolds. The art collection includes paintings, drawings, prints and sculptures by artists from early times to the present.
