The Finance Department is committed to maintaining the integrity of the City of Baker’s financial data through financial reporting that is in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles developed by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) as well as the policies of the City of Baker, its Charter, adopted budget and applicable laws of the State of Louisiana. In safeguarding the financial and capital assets of the City, the Department promotes transparency, efficiency and accountability.

The City of Baker Finance Department handles the primary accounting functions of the city; such as payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, grant funds, etc. This department also issues business licenses, chain store licenses, liquor licenses, and retail clerk licenses to businesses within the city limits. In an effort to better serve the community, we have provided some of the applications online to acquire some of those licenses. We look forward to serving you and welcome to the City of Baker.

The City of Baker’s Policy 400.1, Purchasing, guides the procurement of materials/supplies. When such disbursements are made through federal or state grant programs, Policy 300.2, Disbursements from Grant Funds, provides additional guidelines to (1) create internal controls over the integrity of the purpose for which the funds were awarded; (2) ensure compliance with rules and regulations of the granting agency; (3) eliminate acquisition of unnecessary or duplicative items as required by 2 CFR 200.318, where applicable; and (4) strive to procure under the most economical approach. This policy further provides that the City of Baker, an equal opportunity employer, will be cognizant of products and services offered by small business, minority-owned firms and women business enterprises by providing opportunities for these type businesses to participate in the RFP and RFQ issued for the award of federally funded contracts.

ORDINANCE 2017-16 SECTION 1: Beginning with fiscal year 2015-2016 and thereafter, the City of Baker Annual Budget(s), and any subsequent Amendment(s), once finally Adopted by Ordinance of the Baker City Council, shall be posted for public viewing to the Official Website of the City of Baker, in addition to the usual required publishing of the same.
